A group of young Argentinians has achieved an incredible milestone in the video game industry by creating a development studio from scratch, launching an internationally awarded game, and now bringing it to the most important platforms. The first title from Whiteboard Games, "I See Red", is already available to add to the wishlist on Nintendo Switch, with a confirmed release on February 26 through RedDeerGames.
Luciano Musella, president of Whiteboard Games, recalls: "This evolved into a burning passion that led us to meet at a video game college, see that we had many common interests, and decide to become entrepreneurs as partners and friends." The studio was formed in March 2020, amid the start of the pandemic, and has managed to establish itself in the competitive video game industry.
The development studio is made up of local Argentine professionals, former college colleagues, and even former professors. They also maintain an internship program to promote local talent and strengthen the video game development ecosystem in Argentina.
The game "I See Red" has been internationally recognized for its unique aesthetic proposal and has won several awards at different ceremonies, in addition to holding the Argentine Good Design Seal as an export digital product. The game is an ambitious project from a team that now comprises 32 professionals from various disciplines.
Musella explains: "The hardest part was getting the first publisher, as we had to prove our worth to the world." Despite the challenges, Argentine talent has managed to partner with international publishers to bring the game to different platforms.
The president of Whiteboard Games reveals: "It's a great risk, but very exciting, as we aim to put the Argentine video game industry on the map with a flagship title." The next step is the Switch launch, a significant milestone for the studio and a dream come true.
"I See Red" is an action and shooting game with a unique aesthetic set in the year 2621 that has already been successful on Steam (PC) and is now expanding to Nintendo Switch. With this achievement, the Argentine studio seeks to contribute to the growth of the local industry and stand out internationally, demonstrating the potential of Argentine creativity and talent in the world of video games.
